for you
5:00 PM

i know how much you hated reading the previous post...and probably still do.
my apologies, dear. i havent had much to say.

i am glad we spoke earlier. after what seemed like ages of not hearing from each other.
it made me realize how, now, it is best that i return you a favour.

so here goes...

dear munchkin,

i remember very well the first time we had lunch together. it was just you, me, khalif and nico. you asked me so many questions and said so many things...including this:

'you look like the type who smokes, drinks and clubs a lot'.

haha...i must admit i didnt think you'd be the type i'd get along with so well. but i am glad that that has changed.

there are so many things i love about you that i do not know where to begin. for one, you know how to have fun. i havent met anyone who's always up for anything new, anytime, and anywhere. despite all this however, you still manage to make everyone else in law school look like a first class bum with your endless reading and note-making. it brings me to this important point: although you're a big goofball, i have to say dear dirga, that you have wisdom beyond your eighteen years.

i cannot help but think that your mother did a bang awesome job raising you. the respect that you give to others and most importantly yourself is simply incredible. i'm glad for all the times i've worked with you, be it during the debates, or the moots, or all those times you asked me to edit your work. i'd always look forward to reading them... mainly to discover yet again how smart you are and how well you've improved.
i think i'll just let the secret out then.
you're a major nerd ;)
i've learned so much from you, munchy.

i remember there was a day by the ciggie spot when we were talking...as usual...and you told me in passing that you might not be around next year. we both knew at the time i did not find it the least bit amusing. but i always thought it was your way of joking about how tough law school is.

the day i found out that you really meant what you said, was the saddest i've had in a long time. i couldnt believe lara knew about it and kept it from me. but i am glad she did.... i wouldnt have believed it anyway unless i heard it from you.
i was sad for many reasons. apart from the fact that i'd be losing you, i was also sad at the fact that you'd have done so well here had you stayed on until we graduated.

i am thankful for all the times we've spoken, emo-ed, eaten, shared our highs and lows, hung out, smoked, drank, played pool, or laughed together. i have found such a wonderful friend in you that for once, i have a reason to be eternally grateful for choosing to study at taylors.

it brought me to you.

never change who you are, dirga.
never let anyone tell you otherwise.
[ well, there is one exception.... do try to cut down on the marlboro lights :) ]

i miss you terribly; i love you even more.
