Thursday, July 31, 2008 familiar territory 12:10 PM hate to break it to you, darlings... i am still very much alive :) the answer to munchkin's question: no, langkawi was not so fascinating that I couldnt come online; the five bags that i lugged along made it best that i didnt bring anything else... :s if you're lost as to my subject of discussion, i went to langkawi. to vivian: its the island atas lu punya pulau pinang, before you hit thailand LOL. my previous visit to langkawi was some years back. 5/6/7, cant remember. this trip, the one we took several weeks back, was so last minute that the people on malaysian airlines ought to blacklist me for calling them one too many times. this can only be done before the incident at the langkawi airport though, where the staff at the check-in counter took the term incompetence to a whole new level. we flew there, much to my dismay. my morbid fear of flying would rather see me on the road for six hours than on a flying contraption for one. you'd think it strange, since my air miles would beat the living daylights out of my car's a hundred lifetmes over. it is not that i fear death in mid-air (shudders at the thought); the fact that i do not have control frightens me like you wont believe. i'll give you an example: my palms sweat, my ears pop and my heart will normally start to palpitate while i walk through the tunnel leading to the airplane. that, and the overly made-up faces of grinning/unreal+annoying air stewardesses in their poor imitation of the singapore airlines' sarong kebaya makes it all worse. boy that was a mouthful. continuing with langkawi: we stayed for free at this resort my mum's friend owns. the place was swarming with arabs, seeing as it was in fact arab season, when their peoples would flee their incredibly hot dunes to holiday amidst our also very hot tropics. throughout my entire stay there, i could not help but feast my eyes on their baby vuittons, jimmy choos, aigners and the likes. *drools* two reasons why i would never suggest any one of you to go on holiday at the very last minute are these: 1) crazy father; 2) bad weather. now, the former made me scour for places to stay on islands and mainlands on both the east and west coasts of the peninsular. as fickle minded as they come, every new place i managed to book was ultimately turned down by this prototype of crazy fathers. also, i had to re-schedule flight arrangements too many times to remember, while on the road driving, in the mall walking, and at home while i was talking to either one of you, my long time no see law people. moving onto the latter- we overlooked the monsoon season in Langkawi. 3/4 of the time there, it rained like there had been a drought over the island for several years. ergo, much of what we had planned for the couple of days there were scrapped. so. these pictures, are the only ones i could get of us, dry, and doing something outdoors. the cable cars up the geopark were stuck because of them clouds up on the mountains, my jet skis and go karts cannot be operated, our island hopping-ing plan failed. we did however hit the duty free stores, just about the only shopping you can do on the island. i got enough chocolates to make me dizzy, and a box of bvlgari. i was tempted many many times, to get a carton of malboro lights for my barbie- which were so cheap there i dare not mention it here for fear for my life, but....seeing as i am a very good friend to you, my dear, i shall not ruin your lungs anymore than they already are :s x i have nothing else to say, for these couple of days have been rather shitty, boring and so very sad for me to continue. as such, feast thine eyes on me pictures...haha i shall return in a few days. rest well and recuperate, you who have helped out this weekend. hugs and kisses
gambar - le photo - pictures ![]() you're mine, furball! there were so many monkeys by the side of the roads; i felt so much at home (will explain in greater detail next post; i can just about hear dinesh giggling) i thought this was fawkes. why would one fly and see nothing but sky when you can drive and see endless miles of this? oliphaunt i was bored... so i had to feed these babies. on the way to one of seven waterfalls. bloody hell the climb up was worse than santubong. these were taken in langkawi's version of an underwater world. lovelace! (cue stevie wonder 'i wish') and there's nemo! he's so tiny... oh and i saw dory too. strangely enough, she was too fast for my camera. err... i think this is a coelacanth. i remember catching these on my sister's ps2 konami fishing tournament game. i had a life back then. haha tortoise/turtle... god i cant tell the difference :S my parent's house in langkawi... .... i wish... lol mum, at the spot of that picture we first took in langkawi, when i was just five, and my sister a few months old. the house looks so much smaller now. and the huge swing under it is no longer there. plus, they barricaded the area. i guess people stopped taking care of the place. ![]() the morning of our flight back to klia. i have to stress the pilot was ridiculous. the man probably just left aviation school. we didnt land at klia, we were shot down. ![]() a view from my seat. aufidersen langkawi. till next time.
